Artemisa

La instalación fue inaugurada oficialmente por el Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro el 18 de julio de 1982, su nombre fue tomado del de una elevación aledaña, así llamada porque vista por su cara norte semeja la forma de un taburete (asiento campesino) está situado en el extremo oriental de la Sierra del Rosario y hacia porción Centro-Sur. 

La Chorrera characterization

It was founded on February 3rd, 1983. The initiative for the construction of this facility came from Commander Fidel Castro Ruz and Guillermo García Frias.

“La Chorrera” facility belonged to the UJC at its foundation with Headquarters in Havana City. It is currently promoted as destination for lovers of nature and ecotourism. It passed to Artemisa Popular Camping Enterprise on January 1st, 2011.

This center was founded in 1961 as a public beach, initially having not many rooms with complete infrastructure to provide services to national tourism. During these years, it has been administered by different enterprises of the ministry and the province. From December 1995 onwards, the lodging area passes to the Cubanacan Directorate for the exploitation of international tourism. The same occurred to the complete installation later in May 1998. This time including the public parking area, tennis and soccer field, currently a go-kart track, as well as a cafeteria and store to the direction of Cubanacan.

Subsequently, by decision of the country's leadership, the installation passes to Havana Province Camping Direction; currently Artemisa Province. At present, the center is not providing accommodation services.  Investments are planned in two stages, one for the accommodation area and another for the service areas. We also plan to start its operation partially, once the first one is completed. It is already in operation offering internship services with a capacity up to 150 people. There are two places for selling in Cuban currency (Cuban CUC), pool and beach with gastronomic offers and recreation, barbecue, restaurant, cafeteria (until the beginning of the facility capital remodeling).

It is located on 251 Ave, 21/2 Km. Central Road, Punta Brava, La Lisa, in Havanaprovince. It has an extension of 17,500 square meters of land and made up of 13 cabins. These cabins are on investments for a capacity of 42 people. This facility has a restaurant with a kitchen and a dining hall, two “ranchones”, a cafeteria, a kiosk in Cuban currency  (CUC), two barbecues, a sentry box, a dance hall, a game room, a bathing area made up of a freshwater pool and an audio booth.

The environment of our facility is covered by vegetation, timber and fruit forests. The climate is characterized by being a fairly warm period in some months and, in the months from October to February, a cold climate. The characteristics of the construction are masonry walls with an antique structure, plate and gutter-tile roofs, tile floors, and windows made of wood and glass.
