“Rubén Martínez Villena” Natal House Museum

Mon.It is located at 8427, 91st Ave., between 84th and 86th streets in the municipality of Alquízar, at 22 ° 48 '16 "north latitude and 82 ° 35' 07" west longitude, Artemisa province. National Monument category. Type: Domestic construction. Property built in the 60s of the 19th century and was acquired by the Martínez Villena family in 1898. On December 20th, 1899, Rubén Agnelio Martínez Villena was born, one of the most outstanding figures of the Cuban intellectuals of the generation of the twenty. Between 1925 and 1928 the family leaves the houseand it is used as a laundry. On December 20th, 1950, members of the Popular Socialist Party placed a memorial tally on the house, which is unveiled by Juan Marinello. In 1974, the Cuban government acquired the property and two years later, celebrating the 42nd anniversary of the physical disappearance of the communist leader, it opened its doors as the "Rubén MartínezVillena" Natal House, the first museum institution in Havana.
