The Hunters of Artemisa have had a more than decent start in the 61st National Baseball Series. After six sub-series, his locker shows the same number of wins and losses (seven), and he closes the week with a positive balance.

Those led by Lázaro Arturo Castro took advantage of the bad moment in Camagüey, and won their first bilateral cap so far in the contest. Two victories, in the first and third challenges, with scores of 5×1 and 7×3, was the win against Camagüey, thanks to excellent performances by Geonel Gutiérrez and Misael Villa.

In the second match the starting pitch failed, and neither the relief nor the defense could avoid the 10×2 defeat, when half of the runs came from errors.

Over the weekend it was time to face the one considered by all to be the best team in the championship, and on Saturday the Crocodiles from Matanzas looked like such: they hit at ease and scored an 11×1 knockout.

But, as an old baseball axiom goes, after a day of heavy hitting, bats get tired. On Sunday Geonel Gutiérrez and Yoanni Yera engaged in a duel to zero for five innings. In the sixth, Yera was replaced by Naykel Cruz, and that's where the Hunters took advantage to —with a double by Dayán García and a couple of rival blunders— to score the only run of the match, ending 1×0.

Geonel pitched up to the sixth and then came “the three-headed snake” from Artemisa: Israel Sánchez, Miguel Lahera and José Ángel García, one entry each… and three more zeros for last year's runners-up; thus also came the fourth save for "El Barbero de Guanajay", who is closer to 300 every day.

With the three smiles and two stumbles this week, the Hunters tie Villa Clara for ninth place. Those in the center will be one of the next rivals, as they will face each other on Saturday and Sunday at our headquarters. Before, Artemisa will face a Mayabeque in great shape. We look forward to more joy.
