Judo de Cuba inscripto en Mundial de Budapest

Eight exponents of Cuban judo appear registered to participate in the World Seniors Championship from June 6 to 13. Led by the Olympic and world multi-medalist Idalys Ortiz in more than 78 kilograms, the group stands out among the 22 nations of America announced for the world championship in search of adding points towards the Olympic Games in Tokyo, in the coming summer.
Ortiz, first in the world ranking in his category, will be accompanied in the Hungarian capital by Arnaes Odelín (57 kg), Maylin del Toro (63 kg) and Kaliema Antomarchi (78 kg); as well as Orlando Polanco (66 kg), Magdiel Estrada (73 kg), Iván Silva (90 kg) and Andy Granda (+100 kg).
So far, six of these Cuban judokas have reserved the Olympic ticket pending the closing of the qualifying route on June 28; meanwhile, Odelín and Polanco are lagging behind in their divisions, but with the ambition to add the largest number of units in the next world event.
Ortiz, Olympic queen of London 2012, is on her way to her fourth tournament under the five rings as the only Latin American with a top position in the world ranking thanks to 7,118 points.
Del Toro marches in the 11th seat, with 4,218 units, only preceded in America by the Canadian Catherine Beauchemin-Pinard (4,785) and the Brazilian Ketlyn Quadros, (4,282), sixth and ninth, respectively. Antomarchi, on her part, leads the continent in her division, with her ninth position thanks to 4,562 lines; Meanwhile, Silva stands out among men with the sixth position in his category and 5,185 points.
Estrada appears in seat 28 of his group and is benefited by continental quota to Tokyo; meanwhile, Granda marches safely to the Japanese capital after anchoring in 18th place in the category of more than 100 kilograms.
The Budapest World Cup is the point of greatest rivalry prior to the Olympic tournament, with an initial convocation of nearly 700 judokas from 127 countries representing all confederations. (With information from Prensa Latina)
