The Cuban beach volleyball duo for men and Puerto Rico for women, won today the qualifier for the Junior Pan American Games in Cali, Colombia, held in the Dominican resort of Punta Cana.

Cuban volleyball players Noslen Díaz and Luis Reyes, took the gold by defeating the Mexican duo Raymond Stephens-Miguel Sarabia 2-0 (21-14; 21-19), after defeating the Nicaraguan couple Carlos Solís and Denis López, also 2-0.

For its part, among the women, the Puerto Rican duo Allanis Navas and María González were the winner, who left the Mexican couple of Katherine Albarrán and Atenas Gutiérrez 2-0 (21-19; 21-12) lying on the sand.

Navas-González in the semifinals defeated the Canadians Becky Treshan-Kaylee Glagau in two fights set 21-15 and 21-16, while for their part the Cubans Lázara Madan and Dayani Zequeira lost in the semifinals with the Mexicans and in the third place discussion they fell to the Canadians 1-2.

The six places in dispute for the Pan American Games were reached in the men's team by the teams from Cuba, Nicaragua, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica and the Dominican-A, while in the women's team they will go to Cali: Puerto Rico, Canada, Mexico, Cuba, Guatemala and Costa Rica.

The Youth Pan American Games will be from November 25 to December 5 to come.
